What does “defrost” mean?
If you have ever bought a fridge then you must have heard the term “defrosting”. So, what does it mean? It means that the defrost mode has been triggered and you need to wait for 24 hours.
The defrosting process will make your refrigerator warm and when you remove the ice, it will melt and then you will be able to see the ice cubes. It is not a good practice to defrost your refrigerator too often as it may damage your refrigerator and you can also face some health issues.

Let’s have a look at some reasons for which your refrigerator goes into defrost, other than it’s programmable feature of course.
If you are living in an area where there is heavy snowfall then you might have seen the snow stuck on your refrigerator. You will find it difficult to remove the frost and you will end up damaging your refrigerator.
You can find many insects and pests in your kitchen, but the pests can only survive in the freezer compartment. If you don’t open the freezer compartment for long periods of time then the pests may die and will leave the refrigerator.
Some people may not care about the temperature of their refrigerator and they keep opening the door of the fridge without any consideration of the coldness of the fridge. This will cause damage to the insulation material of the fridge and it may also make your refrigerator unable to defrost.

I have an Electrolux E23CS75DSS1. The condenser fan in the freezer seems to run almost 24/7. When the unit is closed for an extended period of time the temp in the refrigerator area will be 42 degrees and as soon as I open the door the compressor will turn on. How often should this unit defrost? Does the condenser fan turn on while in defrost mode and blow warm air into the refrigerator part? Thanks
