What you need:

- Wire cutters
Unscrew the four Phillips screws on the back of your garbage disposal. Make sure you don’t lose one of them.
Now, unscrew the two screws on the top of the disposal. Remove the metal cover and take off the rubber gasket.
Next, remove the two Phillips screws that hold the plastic housing. You should now have access to the gears and the motor inside the disposal.
Take the disposal apart and remove the three Phillips screws that are holding the gears together. Now, take off the three Phillips screws that are holding the motor together. Take care not to drop any parts.
Disconnect the wires from the motor. Take the motor out of the garbage disposal. Put it aside for later use.
Remove the two Phillips screws from the top of the disposal. Remove the metal cover and the rubber gasket.
Take the garbage disposal unit apart and remove the six Phillips screws that are holding the housing together. Now, remove the two Phillips screws that are holding the blade cover.
Take the garbage disposal apart and remove the four Phillips screws that are holding the blade assembly together. Remove the blade assembly and set it aside for later use.
Now, take off the two Phillips screws that hold the auger assembly together. Remove the auger assembly and set it aside for later use.
Turn your washer upside down and check if there is a plastic tab on the bottom of the unit. If there is a plastic tab, pull it up and out of the hole where it slides into the unit. If there isn’t a plastic tab, then you will need to cut a small circle out of the bottom of the washer. Make sure you do not cut the washer where the plastic tabs are; only cut the plastic where there are no tabs. This will make it easier to remove the washer from the disposal unit.
Put the washer back into the sink. Put the disposal unit back into the housing. Screw the four Phillips screws that were removed in the previous steps back into the disposal. Tighten them very firmly.
