Put a Stop to Annoying Noises: Replacing the Front Felt Seal on a Dryer

To begin, unplug the dryer from the power source and move it away from the wall. You’ll be working on the back of the dryer, so make sure you have plenty of space to work.
Next, remove the screws from the back panel of the dryer. Depending on the model, there may be several screws. Once the screws are removed, carefully pull the back panel away from the dryer and set it aside.
Now you’ll be able to access the felt seal that runs around the perimeter of the dryer’s drum. Carefully remove the old felt seal by using the putty knife to loosen the glue. Once the old felt seal is removed, use a damp cloth to clean the area. Make sure the area is completely dry before proceeding.
Next, take the new felt seal and carefully place it around the perimeter of the drum. Make sure the felt seal is perfectly even and there are no gaps. Secure the felt seal in place with glue, making sure to press firmly. Allow the glue to dry completely before proceeding.
Now you are ready to reattach the back panel of the dryer. Realign the panel and secure it in place with the screws. Finally, plug in the dryer and turn it on to make sure the felt seal is working properly.
