If you own a home, and you have an air conditioner, chances are you will need to repair or replace it at some point in the future.

If this sounds like something that you will need to deal with in the near future, then this guide is for you. Here are five ways to fix your AC unit yourself without having to go through a repairman.

Take It In For Maintenance

The first thing that you should do is take your AC unit in for maintenance. While this may seem like a simple process, there are things that you may not know.

For example, when was the last time you checked the filter? This could be the reason why the AC isn’t working. If you check it out, and everything seems fine, then you will know that the issue isn’t anything that you can do.

Take It To A Repairman

Check For Water Leaks

Next, you need to check for water leaks. This could be a huge issue if you are dealing with a leaky AC unit.

You should open up your unit and take a look at the condenser, which is located on top. There are three parts to the condenser. The drain hose, the drain valve, and the drain cover.

Make sure that these parts are all connected properly. It’s also a good idea to clean out any dirt or debris that is inside of your unit. This could also cause the issue.
